Fall Is Right Around the Corner!

It’s August. The temps are cooling down and folks are filtering out of Estes after the summer rush. Late summer means simpler times here in the Park. We love the lack of crowds, the warm weather, the turning of the leaves, and the lazy days spent relaxing here at the resort. If you’re thinking about booking a stay with us here at Rams Horn Village Resort, we’re here to convince you that late summer and early fall are among the best times of the year for an Estes Park vacation. Here’s why:

Beat the Crowds

Some folks say summer gets crowded here in Estes. Yes, it’s true, the Park is full of tourists, campers, hikers, and even wildlife during the hottest months of the year. That’s just one reason why the dusk of summer is more appetizing for those who love quieter destinations.

As we approach fall, things slow down a touch, and there’s a bit less buzz about town. Estes Park transforms into a cozy nook nestled here in the heart of the Rockies. Locals and visitors mingle at the coffee shops.

A day full of adventure and exploring can be met with a quiet stroll through downtown, a bite to eat, and a nightcap. If you’re looking for a low-key vacation, Estes Park delivers.

Enjoy the Weather

Late summer means hot days broken up by afternoon showers and cool comfortable nights. While the weather is always a bit unpredictable in our unique mountain town, you can expect to spend some time wearing a T-shirt, some time in a sweater, and yes, you may have to pull out that raincoat.

Don’t forget, we have a heated pool for summertime vacationers, as well as three hot tubs that run year round, so you can enjoy even the cooler temps!

The Turning of the Leaves

Fall marks the best time of the year to take a hike here in Estes. The aspen leaves tend to change around mid-September, and sometimes as late as mid-October. The changing of colors is the perfect time to make a visit to Rocky Mountain National Park. Plus, Rocky Mountain National Park is just a few minutes from our resort. Bring the camera and hit the trail to capture uninterrupted, breathtaking views that you won’t find anywhere else.

Relax Here at the Resort

There are so many relaxing activities to enjoy right here at the resort. Here are just a few:

Hang Out Poolside (or by the hot tub) – As we mentioned above, we have a heated pool which runs throughout the summer, as well as three outdoor hot tubs which we maintain year round. So grab a magazine, a drink, and a towel, and take a relaxing dip.

Catch Up on Z’s – If you’re overworked and burnt out, our resort is the perfect place to escape and unwind. Grab a hammock for a spill, or take a snooze on one of our luxurious king or queen-sized beds. Zonked out after a day on the mountain? Then take a well-deserved catnap on the leather sofa in your living room. You’ll never feel more refreshed!

Read a Book – When the afternoon clouds roll in, it’s the perfect time to grab a book. Forgot your novel? Don’t worry — we keep a collection of books right here at the resort.

Cook the Ultimate Meal – Grab all of your favorite ingredients, and make use of the full kitchen and our grills. Hone your chef’s skills as you prepare a family favorite. Oh, and speaking of family…

Make Family Time – Rams Horn is the perfect resort to make memories with the family. Join the kids for a game of volleyball, tetherball, horseshoes or croquet (or any of our other lawn games). You can even borrow some bikes, or spend some time on our private playground. If the weather is keeping you indoors, come check out a game at our library of board games and get cozy by the fireplace. Plus, when night falls, you can end the perfect day with stories around one of our firepits.
